Foldry is built so that your screenshots and everything extracted from them never leave your iPhone unless you explicitly turn on iCloud sync.
What Foldry accesses, and why
- Photos (screenshots only). Foldry reads screenshots from your Photos library to recognize text and sort them into categories. This happens entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Foldry does not upload your photos or any extracted text to any server. Foldry has no server.
- Face ID / Touch ID. Used only to lock the Passwords & Wi-Fi category within the app. Foldry never receives your biometric data itself; this is handled entirely by iOS's LocalAuthentication framework.
- Calendar (write-only). When you tap "Add to Calendar" on a ticket or travel screenshot, Foldry creates a single event via a system-provided sheet you review before saving. Foldry uses iOS's write-only calendar authorization, which technically cannot read your existing calendar, by design.
- Notifications. Used only to remind you ahead of a ticket, travel, or coupon deadline extracted from a screenshot you already saved. These are scheduled locally on your device; Foldry does not use a push notification server.
- Siri / Shortcuts. Voice queries like "what's my Wi-Fi password" are processed on-device via Apple's App Intents framework. Query text and results do not leave your device.
iCloud sync (optional, off by default)
If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, your Foldry data syncs between your own devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure, end to end. Foldry does not have its own server and cannot access this data. It's the same trust boundary as any other iCloud-synced app data.
What Foldry does not do
- Foldry does not sell your data, to anyone, ever.
- Foldry does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- Foldry does not transmit your photos, extracted text, or usage patterns to any server it operates, because it does not operate one.
